The Rt Hon. Baroness Dambisa Moyo of Knightsbridge

Born in Lusaka, Zambia, Baroness Moyo holds an MBA from American University, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. She began her career at the World Bank and later at Goldman Sachs, advising developing countries on international capital markets. Alongside her public policy work, she serves on several major boards, including Chevron, Condé Nast, Starbucks (elected in 2025), and the National Geographic Society, and sits on the Oxford University Endowment Investment Committee. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (elected 2022) and was named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list in 2009.
Baroness Moyo is the author of five influential books—Dead Aid (2009), How the West Was Lost (2011), Winner Take All (2012), Edge of Chaos (2018), and How Boards Work (2021) which have shaped global debates on development, geopolitics, and corporate governance. In 2013 Baroness Moyo was awarded the Hayek Lifetime Achievement Award, named after the Nobel Laureate, Friedrich von Hayek.
