Dr Mark Skousen is an American economist and the Presidential Fellow at The George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University. He has also authored more than 25 books, including The Structure of Production (1990) in which he introduced Gross Output (GO) as an essential macroeconomic tool, and contends it is a more accurate and complete economic measure than Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Prior to obtaining his doctorate from George Washington University in 1977, Skousen worked as an economic analyst for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Since 1980, he has been editor-in-chief of investment newsletter, Forecasts & Strategies. He is the chairman of Investment U, a past president of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), and he is the producer of FreedomFest, a conference dedicated to exploring and maximising personal liberties.
In addition to his authored books, Skousen has also written for the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Journal of Economic Perspectives. He is also a frequent commentator on CNBC and C-SPAN Book TV.
