Panmure House Adam Smith Walking Tour
Join us for a Smith-inspired walking tour of Edinburgh to learn about philosopher and 'father of modern economics' Adam Smith. On the tour we will visit three sites to explore documents and artefacts important to Smith's life and not normally on public display.
We will meet at George Square in front of the University of Edinburgh Library, where we will begin our first session. From there we will continue to the National Library of Scotland to explore pieces from its collections before wandering down the Royal Mile to see where Smith worked, where he is buried, and follow his daily commute to his former home, Panmure House. At the house you will visit his reading room where you can imagine him hard at work on his revisions and see how we are applying his legacy and approach to our 21st-century problems.
Please note: This tour will involve walking on foot between locations and throughout the streets of Edinburgh. All stops will be fully accessible and include regular comfort breaks, however, please consider the physical nature and duration of this activity before booking.
