Smith Supper
A Smith Supper is an occasion to mark the birth of one of Scotland’s most famous sons and to celebrate the ways in which his work continues to make an impact across the globe. Although there is no definitive date of his birth, it is widely accepted his birthday was on or near his date of baptism which was 5th June 1723. Margaret Douglas, his mother, was a very devout woman who would have wanted her son baptised as soon as possible after his birth. To celebrate Smith’s Tercentenary, Panmure House will host a private Smith Supper in the very room that Smith gathered with friends and figures of the Scottish Enlightenment.
In celebration of Smith's legacy and his fondness for food and dinner debate alike, why not host your own Smith Supper, starting with our DIY Smith Supper guide for inspiration, available here.
